Koenigsegg is a car company from Sweden whose products are successfully competing for the title of Best Supercar. Koenigsegg’s cars are consistently holding their ground against the most celebrated cars in the market from long-established companies such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Pagani. The Swedish company’s most famous car is probably the CCXR, known as one of the most balanced supercars in the world, not to mention one of the fastest, and the Trevita is a special, limited edition model. The Trevita’s most exclusive feature is its diamond finish carbon fibre, which it was the first to champion. Thought to be a technical impossibility, the diamond finish has been a sight to behold since the Trevita graced the same roads where carbon fibre cars once had to be black. Moreover, the performance figures of the Trevita are more than stunning. It features a four-digit power rating – 1,018 HP to be exact – and massive 797 lb-ft of torque coming from a 4.8 l V8 with double superchargers. This kind of power is said to permit the face-melting top speed of 254 MPH, and reaching 124 MPH takes only 13 seconds. Moving on with the exclusivity features, there are only three of them, so getting your hands on one might be a matter of prestige as much as a matter of joy. Lastly, with the price of $4,850,000, the Koenigsegg Trevita becomes even more elite.
Another 50-year celebration vehicle comes from Lamborghini. Just as its name might suggest, the Egoista has just one seat and was created to push the essence of Lamborghini cars to its limit. It is powered by a V10 engine with the displacement of 5.2 l and the power of 608 HP. Its unique design features include a removable steering wheel, removable cockpit and a canopy door. Its biggest claim to exclusivity, just like the Maybach Exelero from earlier in the list, comes from the fact that there is only one of its kind. However, laying your eyes on the Egoista might be easier than on any other car on this list. It is presented at the Lamborghini Museum in the company’s home country of Italy, so viewing the Egoista is pretty easy, but getting your hands on one of these for yourself is dangerously close to impossible.
The final two cars on the list are already classics due to the fact that they fulfill every single one of our criteria and were made in the previous century, so the test of time has already begun to impact on their value.
Mercedes CLK-GTR Roadster
At the time of its production the cost of this classic exceeded $1,500,000 so it was the most expensive car in the world. Much like its successor, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, many people wondered if the CLK-GTR was worth its price tag as the most expensive car in the world, but Mercedes held their heads up high and moved on to introduce the limited edition Roadster version. To increase its exclusivity they only ever made six of them.
McLaren F1 LM
Only five units of F1 LMs were ever made and it was once the fastest production car of its era. A very low weight of less than 2,500 lbs combined with the V12 powerplant and displacement of 6.1 I brought the top speed to 243 MPH. The McLaren F1 LM was for the nineties what the Veyron is now – the fastest, most technologically advanced and revered car of its time, generating respect from those who even like completely different models.
