Is Your Gen X Dad Ready to Sell His Lamborghini?

The Lamborghini’s reputation as a world-class ultra-luxury performance car has remained strong. Classic models are usually only available to wealthy collectors who can afford the privilege of one. But over the years, a few mass-produced models have been considered more affordable. “Affordable” means under a $300k price tag in the classic car market.

Let’s go down the Lambo “Memory Lane” and look at some iconic models and how many were produced. First, let’s review some rarities from the 1960s through the 1970s;

  • 225 Lamborghini Islero was produced from 1968 – 1969. Which obviously means the opportunity to own one is limited. But Comedian and Podcaster Adam Corolla has one! In this video Adam gives Jay Leno an overview of his 1968 Islero.
  • 765 Lamborghini Miura were manufactured from 1966 – 1973. This fiery sports car was named after the most dangerous and cunning bulls bred for bullfighting.
  • 1,217 Lamborghini Espada’s were produced from 1968 – 1978. When Espada first hit the market, it was considered the fastest four-seater in the world. Today’s classic Espadas available for sale are minimal.
  • 787 Lamborghini Urraco was made from 1972 – 1979. The Urraco was created to compete in the market with Maserati and Ferrari. It did okay back then, but the Urraco is extremely valuable today.

If you are lucky enough to own any of these models, it could be time for a Lamborghini valuation. We know collectors searching for these specific Lambos and would be thrilled to find one. Our Dusty Cars appraisal team welcomes the opportunity to appraise and offer cash on a classic Lamborghini in any condition.

Lamborghini Ramped up its Mojo in the 1980’s

Many of the folks who contact us today have a parent who owned a Lambo in the 1980’s or 1990’s. These decades represent the “go big or go home” attitude Lamborghini leaned into. The bright colors and robust style definitely got noticed on any roadway. Here are a few models from the 1980’s through the 1990’s that turned heads and won hearts.

  • 2,049 Lamborghini Countachs were manufactured from 1974 to 1990. The Countach’s scissors doors made it a memorable 1980s supercar.
  • 2,903 Lamborghini Diablos were made between 1990 and 2001. The sleek, sporty masterpiece lives by its devilish name!
  • And let’s not forget, you might have something different. Like the off-road Lamborghini LM002 that was produced from 1986 – 1993. Only 301 were made, dubbed the “Rambo Lambo” for its uber-pumped, off-roading style. Motor Trend has a post to highlight its history.

We also want to provide a Lamborghini valuation for the “modern classics.” These are the luxury sports cars which are around twenty years old. A great example is the Lamborghini Gallardo, made between 2003 and 2013. Also named after a popular fighting bull, its super-sporty and colorful style is a big hit among Lamborghini aficionados today. Around 14,022 Lamborghini Gallardo’s were produced and it is still an extremely popular model in the classic car market.

There are many other models we didn’t cover here, so if you have something different, we are still interested. If you’re ready to discuss a classic Lamborghini valuation, please contact our Dusty Cars team. We love these incredible supercars!
