The 1960s Alpha Romeo Giulia Remains Forever Young

Like a song, a classic car can take you back in time. Slide into the leather bucket seats of a classic Alpha Romeo and all the senses are in play; the smell of the leather, the feel of as the ignition brings it to life. 1962 Alfa Romeo Giuletta Spider price, value, and evaluation (appraisal). That lovely revv promises a thrilling road trip. It takes someone back to a younger, freer time when the trill of the open road was full of possibilities.

Some vintage luxury cars may be decades old, but continue to feel fresh and fun. That’s why we are talking about the Alpha Romeo Giulia, pronounced “Joo-Lee-Uh”; like the name “Julia.” The Italian name Giulia is of Latin origin, meaning “youthful.” And although the Alpha Romeo brand is over 100 years old, younger generations find it an exciting ride.

The Alpha Romeo Giulia TI debuted on June 27th, 1962, at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. This introduced the Giulia models to the world. Although Alpha Romeo has always been an iconic Italian sportscar, Giulia and Giulietta helped the brand skyrocket in popularity throughout the 1960s.

The “Cool Kids” know their Alpha Romeo Trivia

Here are a few pieces of trivia for those who love this iconic Italian sportscar\

  • Enzo Ferrari ran the Alpha Romeo racing team around 1920 and stayed with the car company until 1939. During that time, he even included Ferrari’s prancing horse logo in the racecars.
  • Romeo may be Italian but was “born” in France, founded by French automaker Alexandre Darracq. After the company moved to Milan and failed, Italian investors took over.   ALFA is short for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili, which means Lombardian Car Factory. Romeo is the last name of the entrepreneur Nicola Romeo, who took control of the company around 1915.
  • The four-leaf-clover, or quadrifoglio (four-leaf clover) symbol used by the Alfa Romeo brand, first appeared in 1923 at the Targa Florio. Race driver Ugo Sivocci was superstitious and added the clover to the Alfa Romeo to banish bad luck. He won the race that day.
Alfa Romeo has its own “playlist” on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1K6WKn7IqmpKOo8wRm1FIJ. Classic Car enthusiasts can joyride their little Giulia to songs like Cool Kids, Summer Air, and Ride It.
